Sarawak CM Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud inform all the Sarawakian that anyone regardless of race can become Chief Minister. What Taib telling us is true or just to please us? If that is true, who is that 'Smart and sincere' successor of Taib?
Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud has made reference on the criteria for someone to succeed him as the future chief minister of the state.
In his speech read out by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam at the opening of the sixth annual general meeting of the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) here, Taib said anyone, regardless of race, could be supported to take over from him as the chief minister.
“He must be trained to do the job from now. The criteria is that he must be smart and sincere in the struggle to develop the state and raise the living standard of the people,” he said.
Taib could not fly from Kuching to Sibu for the function because of bad weather.
He is the fourth chief minister of Sarawak after Datuk Seri Stephen Kalong Ningkan (1963 to 1966), Datuk Tawi Sili (1966 to 1970) and Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub (1970 to 1981).
