DAVID BECKHAM PLAYING FOR AC MILAN?

David Beckham might not a good player as compare to Brazilian Ronaldinho or Ronaldo, but he is one of the world greatest football player and the richest amongst all soccer players. Signing Beckham to play for a club not because of his good skill, and at age of 33 I don't think he is as good as when he was at the age of 25, I mean in term of his stamina.

Despite of his age and playing ability, David Beckham is still one of the hottest football player in the world, having David on the team like having a piece of Diamond, he is so preciouse that he can turn a football club to the world richest football club. Recent report reveal that David Beckham will play in Italy Serie A league Soccer, join AC Milan on loan from MLS side LA Galaxy for a few month.

What Beckham can add to the maestros of Milan

Fabio Capello's threat to drop David Beckham has poured cold water on any underlying cynicism about his AC Milan move

Picture the scenario. Milan win a free-kick in a central position near the edge of the penalty area and, while panicked opponents fret over the construction of a defensive wall, the collision of egos begins. Ronaldinho senses the chance to chip into the far corner, Kaka spies an opportunity to swerve round the blockers and in. Andrea Pirlo waves his disapproval, crying vulnerability to the goalkeeper's right, while Andriy Shevchenko and Clarence Seedorf argue that this is theirs to blast. "Sorry, lads," pipes up the new arrival through that familiar Leytonstone lilt. "This one is mine."

David Beckham is aiming to prolong his England career by signing on loan for the Rossoneri, a warning from Fabio Capello that he will select only players featuring regularly for their clubs apparently heeded. The 33-year-old trained with Arsenal at the same stage last year. Capello's confidants at Milan will keep the national coach updated on his state of fitness and the midfielder will be available for selection, in Serie A and possibly even in the Uefa Cup, with an unlikely opportunity to showcase his talents at a serious level of European competition gratefully grasped.

The club's vice-president, Adriano Galliani, described the mooted inclusion of Beckham alongside Ronaldinho and Kaka as "a dream team". "Football today is not just about tactics and technical abilities," he said. "It's about full stadia and sponsors. The stadia will only fill up with superstars like Beckham." That hinted at a lavish publicity stunt, a means of using an iconic figure to sell replica jerseys - Massimo Ambrosini wears No23 and Pato No7 at San Siro, so Brand Beckham must latch on to a new number - and increasing match-day revenues rather than adding to Carlo Ancelotti's options on the pitch.

Yet Milan's long-serving coach was gushing in his enthusiasm for the proposed deal last night. "For me it's a pleasure," he said. "If he comes, he could play in every midfield role." His team have shown signs of improvement recently, buoyed by a derby victory over Internazionale, even if they remain a club exiled from the Champions League. But what, in truth, would Beckham truly offer?

Certainly the Rossoneri do not need his experience. Their midfield already boasts Gennaro Gattuso (30), Ambrosini (31), Pirlo (29), Seedorf (32) and Emerson (32). Some 15 of their 28-man first-team squad are over 30, with Paolo Maldini aged 40. Their Brazilian contingent - swollen by Ronaldinho's arrival in the summer - provide much of the attacking creativity. Milan may not be what they once were but the reputations of their personnel carry weight; forcing passage into this team will be no small feat.

Ancelotti would potentially have to rejig his entire approach to include the Englishman. At full strength the Italian favours a 4-3-2-1 formation, with width from full-back allowing the likes of Kaka and Ronaldinho to roam off a lone striker. Beckham has played deeper at times for England recently but would be displacing one of Gattuso, Pirlo or Ambrosini - a celebrated trio of European Cup winners - or the younger Mathieu Flamini to sit on the right of Milan's midfield three. Quite how any of those would react to losing his spot to a player who has spent all but 17 months at Los Angeles Galaxy remains to be seen.

Regardless, the former England captain is surely at a stage in his career where he needs younger players around him to provide pace and movement. Flamini and Pato are effectively this side's legs - Kaka has had his injury problems - and although Milan have a sprinkling of youth they do not have as much as they would like. In that context Beckham can only hope for a bit-part role at best, and would that be enough for Capello to justify his selection?

He does retain an ability to make a mark in a cameo. He has played only 32 minutes of England's last four internationals but remains a calm head and gave an indication of what he can offer against Kazakhstan earlier this month. Albeit up against one cramping left-back, long since frazzled by Theo Walcott, there were glimpses of his best as he whipped in a series of devilish crosses from the right. One found its mark, setting Wayne Rooney up for his second goal. There was even a burst of pace to leave his marker gasping.

Serie A will offer far more to confront his talent but Beckham has always been comfortable sitting deeper, conjuring centres which still tug defenders forward to deal with his threat, leaving a void behind which speedier players can exploit. Milan may lack a target man to benefit from his crosses but Pato might relish any space he creates. The deal feels more like a marriage of convenience than an opportunity for Beckham to illuminate Serie A. Even so, Brand Beckham is heading for the fashion capital of the world.

Football: Beckham signing good for him and Milan, says Sacchi

AFP - Thursday, October 23

ROME, Oct 22, 2008 (AFP) - - David Beckham's January loan move to AC Milan will be beneficial to player and club, former Milan boss Arrigo Sacchi said on Wednesday.

Beckham will join the Italian giants from MLS side LA Galaxy for several months once the transfer window reopens next year.

And although the former England captain is 33 now and has not played in one of Europe's top leagues for 18 months, when he left Real Madrid to join Galaxy, Sacchi believes this is a shrewd piece of business by Milan.

"I advised (Milan vice-president Adriano) Galliani to take Beckham because it can only be good for the team to have a different player to the others," he told Radio Radio.

"Beckham is a great professional and a great guy, he's never any trouble and if he's still the player that I knew a few years ago, he will bring something extra to the team.

"In the past with great players such as Rivaldo and Ronaldo they weren't able to gel them into the team but with Beckham I think it will be mutually beneficial, for him and the team.

"When I was a coach I tried to bring into the team the youngest possible players that were ready.

"But there are always exceptions and Beckham is just so."

Sacchi's opinion is always respected having guided Milan to the European Cup in successive seasons in 1989 and 1990 before leading Italy to a penalty defeat in the World Cup final against Brazil in 1994 in America.

And the 62-year-old is also aware of the marketing impact Beckham's signing will have on Milan.

"On a media and economic level there has never been as much interest in another person.

"Real Madrid had a very effective marketing programme and with him they made a lot of money," said Sacchi, who was briefly Real's sporting director in 2004, when Beckham was a player in Madrid.

Milan are thus become the third European giant that Beckham has joined having already played for Manchester United and Real Madrid, probably the biggest clubs in England and Spain respectively, while Milan are arguably the biggest team in Italy.

Sleeping Dictionary, The Movie Details
IFC Film Synopsis
2002 | 109 min. | Director: Guy Jenkin | TVMA
Guy Jenkin directs this straight-to-video romantic drama shot on-location in Malaysia. In the rainforests of Borneo in the 1930s, English officer John Truscott (Hugh Dancy) accepts a position to colonize the native population of Sarawak at the request of the British government. In following with the native tradition, he is given the services of a servant, Selima (Jessica Alba). A position that British officers refer to as a "sleeping dictionary," she is a concubine to share his bed and teach him the local language. The tradition forbids romantic entanglements, so the relationship is watched over by superior officer Henry Bullard (Bob Hoskins) and his wife, Aggie (Brenda Blethyn). When Selima and John fall madly in love, they enrage both the colonizers and the colonized. Also starring Emily Mortimer and Noah Taylor.

Set in the mid 1930s, The Sleeping Dictionary centres around English Colonialism and how British settlers tried to civilise the Malaysian natives while teaching them a way of life which seems more appropriate to the settlers. In this period, young men were sent to Malaysia to practice administrative skills they had just learned in University. They would help manage one of the camps of natives at the time.

I don't really mind who the star is, but to me as I have seen in this picture Jessica Alba look very sexy wearing her outfit modern sarong.

Not impossible for Jessica Alba to be honoured as recently a Bollywood star Sharukh Khan was honoured by The Yang Di Pertua Negeri Malacca Tun Mohd Khalil Yakob on his 70th Birthday. The Datukship honoured to Sharukh was critcised by our local Artistes.

DO YOU HAVE ANY EXOTIC PET AT HOME?

Exotic pets pose a health risk to kids

insidepix1

KUALA LUMPUR: Tears streaming down his cheeks, your 5-year-old boy wanders in with a cut on his finger or blistering red bite-marks on his hands.

Normally, you will wash his hands with soap and water, and apply a bandage.

However, if you are the owner of exotic pets like iguanas or hedgehogs, it might be wiser to find out what really happened.

If the injury was a result of an encounter with the pet, the appropriate thing to do would be to wash the wound with water for about five to 10 minutes, apply anti-bacterial medication and get medical assistance as the wound can get easily infected.

According to Malaysian Paediatric Association vice-president Dr Zabidi Hussin, organisms found in exotic pets are harmful to both children and adults.
Veterinarian Dr Wong Won Hong, who agreed, said the risk of being bitten or scratched by exotic animals could also happen to the elderly and those who suffered from chronic diseases like asthma.

"Fever, mild dehydration, diarrhoea, headaches and more are tell-tale signs when a person with a weak immune system has been scratched or bitten by an exotic pet. This is due to the bacteria and viruses in the animal."

While the immune system of a healthy adult person is able to deal with the risk of injuries sustained from such pets, the same may not be the case for children, particularly under the age of 5.

Malaysia HerpetoFauna Club pro-tem committee member Mohammad Nazri Hassan Basri said as exotic animals were wild animals, they should be treated with understanding.

"But this may not happen with young children and, therefore, they have a higher possibility of being bitten or scratched by the pet.

"Young children love to touch, play and cuddle their pets, but their show of affection is generally not suitable for exotic pets.

"Therefore, if there is an exotic pet at home, the parents or guardians should make the children aware right from the beginning of the do's and don'ts when handling the animal."

Nazri said that besides wanting to create public awareness on reptiles, he formed the club for reptile lovers to exchange information on good husbandry practices when it comes to their pets.

On the name HerpetoFauna, he said herpetology was the study of amphibians, reptiles, turtles and crocodilians. The word was derived from the Greek word Herpetos, which means to crawl, while fauna refers to animals.

"As a reptile enthusiast, I do have a few exotic pets at home, one of which is the leopard gecko. My 6-year-old son is only allowed to handle it under my supervision.

"He is only allowed to touch the back of the gecko and sometimes, the top of its head. At times, even that is out of bounds as the reptile might mistake his hand for a cricket and try to bite it.

"The most important thing is to wash your hands with micro-bacterial soap, both before and after handling an animal, to reduce the risk of infection."

Nazri, who is a volunteer with Zoo Negara, said knowing how to handle and take care of exotic pets was very important.

Meanwhile, Dr Wong, who is attached to Mid Valley Megamall Pets Wonderland, makes it a point to advise those wanting to own such pets on how to handle and feed them. -- By Laviinia Dhanagunan
