DATUKSHIP TO BE HONOURED TO JESSICA ALBA?

Anybody have watched the movie 'Sleeping Dictionary'? I haven't seen this movie so far yet, but what I heard the movie is quiet good. The film was shooted in Sarawak starred by a sexy Hollywood actoress Jessica Alba in 2002. With the promotion of this film worldwide will help to promote Sarawak to the eye of the World.

Guy Jenkin directs this straight-to-video romantic drama shot on-location in Malaysia. In the rainforests of Borneo in the 1930s, English officer John Truscott (Hugh Dancy) accepts a position to colonize the native population of Sarawak at the request of the British government. In following with the native tradition, he is given the services of a servant, Selima (Jessica Alba). A position that British officers refer to as a "sleeping dictionary," she is a concubine to share his bed and teach him the local language. The tradition forbids romantic entanglements, so the relationship is watched over by superior officer Henry Bullard (Bob Hoskins) and his wife, Aggie (Brenda Blethyn). When Selima and John fall madly in love, they enrage both the colonizers and the colonized. Also starring Emily Mortimer and Noah Taylor.

Set in the mid 1930s, The Sleeping Dictionary centres around English Colonialism and how British settlers tried to civilise the Malaysian natives while teaching them a way of life which seems more appropriate to the settlers. In this period, young men were sent to Malaysia to practice administrative skills they had just learned in University. They would help manage one of the camps of natives at the time.




I don't really mind who the star is, but to me as I have seen in this picture Jessica Alba look very sexy wearing her outfit modern sarong.

Not impossible for Jessica Alba to be honoured as recently a Bollywood star Sharukh Khan was honoured by The Yang Di Pertua Negeri Malacca Tun Mohd Khalil Yakob on his 70th Birthday. The Datukship honoured to Sharukh was critcised by our local Artistes.

MALACCA: Bollywood heart-throb Shahrukh Khan is among 80 people who will be made Datuks in conjunction with the Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob's 70th birthday today.

The actor from New Delhi will receive the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM), which carries the title Datuk.

Heading the list of award recipients are Royal Malaysian Navy chief Datuk Abdul Aziz Jaafar, Kolej Teknologi Islam Antarabangsa Melaka president Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Md Yusop Hashim and State Secretary Datuk Omar Kaseh. They will be conferred the Darjah Cemerlang Seri Melaka (DCSM), which carries the title Datuk Wira.

There will be no recipients for the top two state awards -- the Darjah Utama Negeri Melaka (DUNM), which carries the title Datuk Seri Utama, and Darjah Gemilang Seri Melaka (DGSM), which carries the title Datuk Seri.

The 76 others on the DMSM list include Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong, People's Progressive Party's Malacca chairman Senator Chiw Tiang Chai, state Works and Public Amenities Committee chairman Gan Tian Loo and state police chief SAC I Mazlan Mansor.

Forty-six people will receive the Darjah Seri Melaka, 27 the Justice of Peace, 65 Bintang Cemerlang Melaka, 127 Bintang Khidmat Terpuji, 225 Pingat Jasa Kebaktian, 145 Pingat Bakti Masyarakat and 43 Pingat Khidmat Lama.

The awards will be conferred in a ceremony at Dewan Seri Negeri here over the weekend.
